Description of the project
CALCampus is a private, international online learning
center, which offers courses solely through the Internet. Enrollment is
open to all individual, mature learners anywhere in the world. CALCampus
is totally Internet-based and has been teaching courses online since 1986.
Courses are offered in business, computer programming, computer applications
and technology, English, mathematics, science, social science, foreign language,
general studies, and test-preparation. English courses are offered for non-native
speakers. CALCampus is not a university nor is it a high school; it is an
Internet-based online learning center. Students use our courses for many
different purposes according to their own needs. CALCampus offers individual
courses and certificate programs for job skills enhancement, continuing
adult education, personal and professional development, support for home
schooling on the secondary level, and support for high school and postsecondary
study. We also offer a High School Diploma program and an Associate Degree
program; these special instructional programs are available through administrative
cooperation with other institutions. CALCampus issues a hardcopy certificate
for individual course or certificate program completion. Diplomas and degrees
are conferred by the cooperating institution for the particular program
completed. Refer to the Course Catalog for details about all of our courses
and programs. Courses are taught by CALC teachers from around the world
and may be taken by anyone who has access to the Internet. Our Directed
Independent Study courses are designed so that students receive lessons
from their teachers through the Internet to study offline. Course materials
come in various forms, including hypertext disktexts that are run on a computer,
text lessons that are printed, or in some cases a hardcopy textbook. Students
are required to do homework assignments and quizzes which are e-mailed to
their instructors for evaluation. Instructors and students have the option
for online meetings on our online campus. Certain courses are presented
in a Live online classroom format. CALCampus courses are designed for completion
within a 12-week term, if not sooner; and we do allow for delays when requested
by the student. Students may register for and begin their courses at any
time. Interested students will find more details about how CALCampus operates
in the Student Manual.
