Many new and very interesting measuring equipment
have been acquired for the e-Hermes project. First of all the UV sun
radiation instrument. It is a relatively very expensive device manufactured
in the USA. It is capable of measuring energy of the sun UV radiation
relative to surface (in Joules/cm2). It can also integrate over a
period of time (in Watts/cm2). The measuring procedure chosen
was the first one. That means that the instrument has to stay outside
in the open subjected to all kinds of dangers to the instruments'
smooth operation: sun, dust, wind, bugs etc. For that reason protection
measures had to be taken. So two boxes were made to minimise the outdoor

Also, a sound level measuring device was bought in order to estimate the factor of noise pollution at first in the general school district. The instrument was at first tested …by measuring the dBs of the voices of some of the …teachers in the school. Names and …values in dBs will be published in the next issue of ESEM in order to have a complete set of measurements. |
