The number of people with lung diseases is steadily increasing.
The Netherlands have a number of hospitals specialised in this direction,
one of which is situated in Davos, Switzerland. This is mainly because
of the special climatic conditions, as well as the relatively great
distance from home that may also positively influence the recovery. |
The
aim of their admission into the clinic is to nable the patients
to function normally again
and also to give the lungs “a break” in
this beneficial climate. The physical condition of the patients is
often very poor and that is why working at it is one of the most
important goals of the treatment here, along with the improvement
of respiration -
with or without the help of breathing-exercises. There
are both adults and children being treated in Davos. |
 |
| There is
place for about 40 adults and 20 children. In the N.A.D.
there is a medical service working, consisting of a lung specialist,
a paediatrician, physiotherapists, laboratory workers and
nurses. There is also a psychosocial team, in which psychologists,
sociotherapists, sport therapists and “creative therapists” work
together. |
