Partners' interest and activities and relevant experience

Lambrakis Research Foundation
Nikitas Kastis presented the main areas of interest, and the activities of Lambrakis Research Foundation (see Annex, Section 2). It has been pointed out that it is a priority for LRF to encourage partnerships between education providers, technology providers and content providers in order to improve the quality of educational resources, increase access to resources and support creative and innovative learning environments. Its interest in project EUROSPIN consists in the development and pilot testing of methods for opening up educational communities to real world situations in order to introduce new learning models, disseminate experience and provide information to promote an increased awareness of cultural educational, environmental and other important social issues.
Ellinogermaniki Agogi
Stavros Savas presented the priorities of Ellinogermaniki Agogi in the educational environment they have developed. The epitomy of their philosophy consists in two words "validity and usefulness". EA is an innovative school giving emphasis in foreign languages teaching, application of new technologies, extensive use of the laboratory in natural sciences teaching and research in education.
Ellinogermaniki Agogi was the first Greek school to use ODL in secondary level education in the year of 1993. The participation of Ellinogermaniki Agogi in EU funded programs(FIREES, ATHENA, ARTEMIS, e-HERMES, Young Researchers in Action, NETDAYS EUROPE 98 and NETDAYS EUROPE 99, EUROSPIN, CEME, The water project, HERODOTUS and THYMISIS projects - for more information see the web site http://www.ellinogermaniki.gr ) has started four years ago. Its interest in the project is to test and validate innovative pedagogical approaches which give emphasis in interdisciplinary, activity based and collaborative learning, as well as in problem solving activities.
Kurier
Christian Bohmer presented the activities of Kurier, which occupies the second rank in circulation in Austria. They have a very close collaboration with young people, since they see them as their future public. There are also students who work for the journal, and who in several cases they also design their pages. Kurier publishes also issues that address topics that are of interest to young people as supplements or as separate editions.
Free University of Berlin
Due to the absence of Prof. Munchmeier, his colleague Ulrike Urban presented the activities and the experience of University of Berlin in the field of interviews. She referred to the very large nation-wide research monograph undertaken by the Free University of Berlin, which is funded by Shell. This study is aiming at the wider public and deals with subjects that are similar to this project. It should be noted that the recent "Shell" Youth-studies demonstrate an increased emphasis towards subjects concerning Europe.
Creative Marketing
Philip Nielsen presented the activities of Creative Marketing, which is a company specialized in producing customized Internet related applications, and is interested to be involved in educational applications of new media.
Gymansium Philipinum
Reinhard Neebe has presented in brief the Comenius Project Young Researchers in Action, which also deals with research on issues of interest for youth. They have, consequently, a substantial experience in interpreting results of research with pupils. Bernd Klewitz suggested the involvement of a German newspaper as well in order for the german pupils to be supported in their national environment.
BG und BRG Schwechat
Markus Artner represented the school in this Meeting and presented the main areas of interest of Schwechat Gymnasium. More specifically, he spoke about the projects that the school co-ordinates or participates ( e-HERMES, Young Researchers in Action, NETDAYS EUROPE 98 and NETDAYS EUROPE 99, PING) at national or international level.

Vagelis Anastasiou presented the electronic tools developed by EPINOIA within the framework of European Projects (e-Hermes, Athina).
