In
nature all plants and animals are "sworn" to their own kind and intensities
of radiation. As soon as one attacks the accustomed radiation structure,
devastating consequences can follow. In Switzerland it has been observed
that those trees at the edges of the forest die, which stand in the irradiation
range of microwave transmitters. More drastic still is the observation that
the side of the tree facing the transmitters looses its needles first. Further
the depolarisation of the quantity of acid and base in the soil can result
in the effect that the roots are no longer able to absorb water, which leads
to the death of the tree. Because there have been no studies on "the health impact of cellular phones " the GSM initiative is demanding that GSM carriers prove that high frequency have no unhealthy effects on living creatures, particularly humans. With the motto "Otherwise I'm for it" an Austrian-wide letter is being sent to mayors with the demand for increased research about the health consequences of high frequency radiation through the GSM network. Source: "Ökoforum", November 97 I worked with this article, because it interested me very much and also
its theme could affect me. It is a good completion to last years physics
class when we started the problem of "electrosmog". We learned very interesting
things about this problem and participated in a project in which we measured
the electromagnetic radiation present in our home. It was interesting
and informative indeed, to see how great the presence of radiation was
in the place where we spend the most time.
