The
multimedia CD-ROM basically transforms the contents of the book, produced
for Athina into multimedia.
The added
value of this transformation consists in :
-
The heavy use of speech, which is essential
to language learning.
-
The active involvement of the student,
who is continuously presented with his progress and is helped in designing
his own learning strategies.
-
The interaction of the student with
the CD-ROM through the use of his own speech, which can subsequently be
uploaded to a web server, in order to be accessible by his distance teacher.
-
The general possibility of student /
teacher interaction through the use of the Internet and specifically through
the possibility of downloading new exercises, and posting the results to
the teacher.
The CD-ROM is designed
along the lines of a modern user Interface featuring 3D-Graphics animations
and video in order to attract the student.
Exercises range
from multiple choice to speech recording and playback exercises.
Progress is
monitored through a progress file, which can be opened, saved and uploaded
to a web server, where the student has access rights.
