Needs Analysis 
    The Needs Analysis conducted within the framework of Athina demonstrated the wide diversity of the target group. Students of modern greek have some things in common. Nonetheless, the differences are numerous.

Pedagogical Objectives 
   The material was produced in accordance with the results of the Needs Analysis conducted. 

Technological Objectives
   The needs analysis demonstrated, that the flexibility of Open Distance Learning should be an integral part of Athina. 
 

The ATHINA Project set out with a needs analysis. A questionnaire was designed for the students involved (i.e. the students attending the courses at the participating universities). The aim of the questionnaire was to have a  quantitative assessment of the target group's knowledge, motives for learning Greek and needs. 

In accordance with the needs analysis a list of Pedagogical Objectives was set up:

  • The material should be rich, adaptable, motivating and diversified
  • The material should obey to the principles of the communicative approach
  • The material should include authentic texts and refer to real life situations
Technology was also an important aspect of Athina. The main technological Objectives were:
  • The multimedia content should include a lot of dialogues and rely heavily on speech interaction.
  • Self-assesment is crucial
  • The internet should be used as a platform for continuos communication, collaboration and updating of the material.
